Blogging...the dark ages?

Hello folks!

It's a new day, and we wanted to bring some things to light. It has come to our intention, that even in this day and age, some of you folks still do not blog!

Now, why? Some of you say you do not know how...it is very easy, once you get started. Have you ever sat down and wrote a letter to your editor? Or, maybe you wrote to your congressman. How about that letter you wrote ages ago to your best friend? Did you ever have a pen pal?

You see, to us, blogging is just talking to my friends. The ones we have, and the ones we have not met yet...you! You apparently enjoy reading blogs; or you would not be reading this one:>)

Blogging is important to your business for a variety of reasons. The main one is exposure. You can get exposure for a lot of different things...depends what your business is. If you are a seller on eBay, for instance, you can blog about your item, your store, how you set up a auction, or where you got the item(s) you are talking about.

You can blog about your family; your pets; your diverticulitis! It does not matter what you blog about, but it does matter how often you blog. Now, i have been asked how blogging about family could relate to business. Tell me something, when you go to the local store, do you ask the clerk that you know a question, or do you ask just any one? If you are like us, and a lot of other folks, you seek out the one you know.

It's like that in blogging, too. Folks tend to go with who they "know". If you buy from eBay, do you go and look at what your favorite seller has, first? How do you suppose folks pick favorite sellers? Through personal contact. They like what they read; they liked the way they treated you. You like how they treated your mom, best friend or neighbor.

You see, blogging is a form of "word of mouth advertising"; the oldest form of advertising. So, what we are doing here is not any different than sending out flyers, or talking to people  in front of a store. The difference is we are using a computer, and potentially reaching millions of online buyers.

It sounds scary, huh? But it's not, it's FUN! We have made some wonderful friends through our blog. I know some of you are saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks". WRONG! We are in our 50's (OK, Marshell will be 50 in 8 days)...point is, we have learned this, and you can to.

Sit down and write a letter to your best seller. Take out the names. Then put it in a blog, and publish it. See what happens.
